Updates
Last week, on August 6th, we updated our Web Filter with 27 new trackers. As we have already discussed in another blog post, digital advertisers who are responsible for the trackers are constantly trying to mitigate existing protections, and that's why we keep updating our firewall: To keep up with them. More information about the update, including a list with all new trackers, is available inside the app on the 'More' tab.
Partnership with Mente Binária
A couple of months ago, we started a partnership with a 🇧🇷 website called "Mente Binária" (which would roughly translate to "Binary Mind"). It's a website dedicated for those who work with, or are simply interested in, information technology. They also have an online forum to discuss and exchange information about technology and security, as well as online trainings (reverse engineering, binary exploitation, programming). Since we strongly believe in what they're doing, and also want to spread the word about these topics, we decided to partner with them. Although the content is mainly in Brazilian Portuguese (sorry 😬), they made a video last weekend that we wanted to share, showing some very popular apps and their usage of trackers:
Roadmap
We have received some requests from users to include new features in our development roadmap. Below are some of the requests we get the most:
- MacOS Version: Because we have no registration in our service and Apple does all the billing, it's usually tricky to add compatibility with new operating systems. However, at least for macOS, with the release of 10.15 Catalina coming closer, we believe that we will be able to release a Mac version soon.
- Advanced settings: Options for advanced users including a blacklist for blocking additional custom hostnames and a bypass list for domains that should ignore the VPN and be accessed directly (specially useful for services that block users with a VPN connection).
